It’s official! Alex has signed on the dotted line, pledging his long-term future to Williams Racing, so let’s look back at some BTS of our favourite Albono moments since joining the team in 2022…
Melbourne 2022
The birth of the Tyre Whisperer!
Alex battled up the grid from P20 to finish 10th at the Australian Grand Prix - nursing his hard tyres for 57 laps of the Albert Park Circuit before boxing on the final stint to pick up his first point in Williams blue and the team’s first points of the season.
Miami 2022
The power of red…
F1 rolled out the red carpet as A-listers graced the paddock for the spectacle that was the inaugural Miami Grand Prix. Albono decided to put on a show, racing from P18 to finish 9th, claiming two points for the team - it’s safe to say the lucky red hair was here to stay…
Montreal 2023
Magnifique!
After qualifying in P9, Alex and the Williams team executed a perfect one-stop strategy at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve to take the chequered flag in P7 - Albono’s best ever Grand Prix finish for Williams!
Silverstone 2023
Homecoming…
Continuing on from success in Canada, Albono returned home to the British Grand Prix - It was a special one, with Alex’s family there to see him qualify and finish the race in P8, picking up four valuable points for the team.
Goodwood 2023
Wholesome vibes!
In the heat of last summer, Alex’s dad, Nigel, was in attendance to see Albono take the wheel of Williams’ classic FW08C at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Monza 2023
A pilgrimage to the Temple of Speed…
After missing the Italian Grand Prix in 2022 due to a burst appendix, Alex returned to Monza for the first time in three years. Continuing to demonstrate the incredible straight-line speed that Williams became known for in 2023, Albono qualified in P6 and finished the race in 7th place - equalling his highest race finish for the team.
Mexico City 2023
Three in a row!
After starting on the grid in 14th place, Alex did what he does best and battled his way up the field to finish in P9, claiming points for the third weekend in a row - his best points run with Williams Racing.
Abu Dhabi 2023
P7 Baby!
Alex’s 27 points proved crucial to Williams Racing in the 2023 Constructors’ Championship, claiming P7 in Abu Dhabi on the final day of the season - the teams’ highest finish since 2017.
