We’ve been asking Alex’s fans to let us know what made them start supporting AA23 — and why they continue to get behind our Thai racer.

There have been some great responses throughout the season, so here's a selection of our favourites from 2024…

“My Alex Albon story started when I was young, watching F1 with my parents. I remember watching Alex as a rookie and watching him through the years fulfilling his dreams. It really has given me the confidence to fulfil mine.

“Alex has always given me so much comfort, I feel as though he inspires me to be myself and not let anyone or anything get in the way of who I want to be and what I want to achieve in life. So Alex really is my hero and I will forever be cheering him on.”

“I have been a huge Alex fan ever since I began watching F1! My most memorable moment watching Alex recently was in Monaco.

“I live in Australia, so I stayed up to watch the race, but I was so happy to see Alex score his first points of the season! I couldn’t sleep afterwards because I was so excited.

“I love supporting Alex because he seems like such a nice guy and I can’t wait to see him score many more points, this year and beyond.”

“I started watching Formula 1 right before this year's season started. Although I was very interested in it from the start, I didn't properly fall in love with it until I started paying closer attention to Alex and all of his content on and off track.

“Personally, I would say he is the reason I found this passion of mine and such a deep love for F1 that eventually led me to discover my love for sports in general.

“I know it's a huge amount of pressure for someone who just wants to drive an F1 car and pursue his dreams, to hear he is a role model to strangers, but he is just that for me.

“He inspires me daily to always be kind and generous towards others, no matter how hard my own life is sometimes, because that's who he seems to be and it is what instantly stood out to me about him. He is now my favorite driver on the grid.

“I got interested in Formula 1 because of TikTok, but I stayed because of Alex Albon and will be here to support him as long as I can.”

“I used to watch F1 as a kid, but I fell out of touch with the sport in the early 2010s. My favourite team growing up had been Williams, so when my interest was rekindled ahead of the start of the 2023 season, I was pretty much destined to root for Alex.

“To my great delight, I was soon bombarded with many other reasons to love the guy, apart from 'he's scoring points in the blue car'.

“There is no one on the grid that I relate to more. Alex and I are about the same age. His sense of humour is right up my alley. His authenticity and kindness in how he interacts with others sets a standard I aspire to.

“I feel like we both bring the same goofy-but-committed energy to our relationships, as well as the same minimal-yet-thoughtful energy to our fashion choices.

“By far the biggest thing, though, was learning about Alex's F1 journey prior to making a return with Williams.”

“Oooo a little fan story from me! I went to my first fan experience in Melbourne back in 2023.

“Out of all the drivers there, Alex ensured everyone around us at the Melb walk spent some time with everyone! It truly made me feel like it was worth waking up at 5am just to get to the front.

“That same year I ended up painting a portrait of Alex, inspired by his incredible year at Williams.”

“I came to know more about Alex through YouTube videos. I knew he was a Formula 1 driver but that was it — but after watching him in videos from GQ and Korean Englishman, I just absolutely admired him.

“He's such a character on and off track. I started backtracking his career by rewatching his races, highlights, and even fan compilations (from hilarious statements, iconic punchlines, and funny stream moments).

“I also like how he shares his love for his pets, experiments with hair color and styles, shares cool photos on his app or Instagram, releases amazing merch, and seems to have fun and is passionate about the sport.

“Seeing Alex on the track also makes me proud in a way seeing a person like me of Southeast Asian descent excel in the sport.

“Presently, I am still amazed by his hard work and kindness. Honestly, supporting Alex feels like supporting a friend that's far away.

“Cheers to more points and future podiums in upcoming races!"

“I started watching Formula 1 during the 2018 season and was immediately a fan of Alex when he started in F1 in 2019.

“I have stayed a fan since. I have smiled and cried during all of his ups and downs. Since he came to Williams, I have seen the real Alex shine. He blossomed under their care.

“Not only is Alex an amazingly talented driver, he is also kind, funny, optimistic and so smart. He never fails to make me smile and he drags me through my darkest days.

“I have been struggling with my mental health for over 10 years now, F1 and Alex in particular have been such a help to me. He reminds me to always stay positive and never give up, to face challenges with a smile on my face and the never-ending desire to become the best version of myself.”

“Formula 1 has given me a group of friends that I never would have had otherwise. As a Vietnamese fan, having Alex be that Asian representation on the grid has given me inspiration and drive.

“My younger sister has taken up karting and we cheer Alex on every weekend. I had the opportunity to see Alex in person in Miami and it was so cool to meet him up close (despite me being so awkward and shy).

“Alex is an inspiration for minorities like us and we always hope to see more of him. Plus Alex and Lily give us that inspiration for the fun loving relationships we all deserve.”
