There's less than a month to go until pre-season testing in Bahrain — and Alex has been busy getting himself in shape for the year ahead.
As the anticipation for next term continues to build, we sat down with Albono to find out more about how he's preparing for the 2025 campaign...
How has life been away from the track? What has been the thing you’ve enjoyed the most during your time off?
Life’s been good! At the end of last year Lily and I went on a couple of holidays, it was a nice way to finish the year with some time to ourselves. The off-season is short, so it’s nice to make the most of it and relax.
I always enjoy Japan, so going back to Tokyo was a highlight. The culture, food and second-hand camera stores!
Has your 2025 pre-season training changed at all from previous years? Is there anything different Patrick has made you focus on?
No, not really. It was hard work and a lot of sweat! It’s important to make the most of those two weeks, as it sets me up for the rest of the season. Although, it didn’t feel that long ago since the chequered flag was waved in Abu Dhabi.
We did a mix of gym work and cardio — running on the beach was tough. If anyone wants to push themselves, then try that! But respect to Patrick, he always joins in, so I can’t complain too much.
We’ve seen you go cycling, boxing and play padel in previous years during pre-season - are there any new sports you would love to try and incorporate into your training?
We did all of those again in 2025 — if you’ve not played Padel yet, then you must be living under a rock. Maybe more golf? I’ve heard it’s really good for all round functional Formula 1 driver fitness… well, I’ll keep telling Patrick that until he listens. Although, I did find time for some golf – so maybe he does listen?
Do you have a go-to training meal and what is your favourite off-season cheat meal?
It might sound cliché, but if after a day’s training there’s a Pad Krapow waiting for me, then all that hard work was worth it. Ok it might not be a cheat meal, but it’s a rewarding one.
If you could do pre-season training with any athlete or celebrity outside of F1, who would it be?
Mark Wiens! He could put me through my paces in the kitchen then I’ll return the favour on the kart track. I love food and cooking, and I follow him a lot so that would be really fun.
Do you have any funny stories from the off-season so far?
None that I’d want you all knowing. I’ve been practicing my cooking though — which you might consider funny — perhaps I’ll let you witness some of more of it this year and you can be the judges.
What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead?
Starting off a fresh new season and with a new teammate in Carlos. He’s a great guy, a super talented and fast driver, and I think we can achieve some special moments together.
We’ve done a lot of work already at Williams and now with Carlos joining I am looking forward to what he’s going to bring, which will only help speed everything up.
What can fans expect from Alex Albon in 2025?
As always, I’ll give it my everything on track to bring home good results. I’m also going to keep helping with the work I’ve already been doing, so the team’s ready for the new regulations in 2026.
I also want to show you, my fans, more of my interests and some behind the scenes areas of my life. I appreciate everyone’s support and want to give back as much as I can.
