A late lap from Fernando Alonso demotes Alex out of Qualifying. He finishes P16.

Alex has ran out of sequence and is now P11 after a 1:23.821.

Albono is heading out for another effort.

Alex return to his box. He's P13 for the moment, 0.666s away from P1.

Alex is the fastest of the early laps with a 1:24.153. He'll slip back, but it's a decent first effort.

OK, straight out. Track is clear.

Alex is on the Yas Marina Circuit for his first Qualifying lap. Soft tyres equipped on the FW46.

Alex finishes FP3 in P12

The clock ticks down, and that's FP3 complete. Alex is on track to get some practice starts in before he prepares for Quali.

Eighteen of the 10 cars are all out there. Alex heads back to the pit lane after getting a 1:24.378 in. He's P11 with two minutes remaining.

Alex is P11 as the track speeds up. He's back for more minutes of learning. Seven minutes remain and he's got a set of softs on for this final run.

A rapid lap for Car 23 and it's back to the pit lane to review the data as the session clock ticks down.

Alex is in P1! He sets a 1:24.378 on his new set of softs! Great effort!

OK, straight out.

Alex makes the most of his red-ringed Pirelli rubber. He sets another 1:25 lap after two cooldown laps, and then heads back to the pit lane. Albono sits P12 for the moment.

It's taken 22 minutes, but Alex has ventured out onto the Yas Marina Circuit for his first Saturday laps!

Free Practice 2 comes to an end, with Alex posting a best lap time of 1:24.269. That sees him finish the session in P9. We’ll be back tomorrow for FP3 and Quali! 👋

Alex is on a new set of soft tyres for the closing stages of FP2.

It’s a return to the track for Albono, with just over five minutes of the session remaining.

AA23 heads back into the pits after reporting an issue over the radio.

Alex is out for another stint at the Yas Marina Circuit — initially for one lap on used softs, before changing to a set of mediums.

Albono is called into the garage once again.

It’s a new best time for Albono after his latest lap — 1:24.269. He’s currently in P7.

Alex’s FW46 rolls back out onto the track. He's switched to a set of new soft tyres.

"Go in, go in..." Alex visits the garage for the first time today.

AA23’s latest time is his best so far, coming in at 1:25.307. That puts him into P8 as things stand.

Alex completes his first lap of the day, posting a time of 1:25.791.
